Weston Airport Restaurant & Kitchen Refurbishment

Conneely Building & Civil Engineering have carried out substantial upgrade works at Dublin Weston Airport over the last number of years in order to modernise and rejuvenate the existing airport facilities as well expanding them. As part of these works the restaurant and commercial kitchen in the main terminal airport building were completely refurbished. The restaurant dining area, bar and kitchen as well as adjacent store rooms were stripped of all fixtures, fittings and equipment and internal partitions demolished to facilitate expansion of kitchen area and open plan dining area.

A new restaurant bar was constructed with walnut timber frame and frosted glass panels finished with a Zimbabwe Black Granite Countertop. The bar was full equipped with draught line cooler system, 3 nr. double door low level fridge units, Coffee making facilities, stainless steel internal bar shelving units and a 8m3 cold room keg storage.

The Dining area was upgraded by installing a new solid timber walnut floor, hi-level moulded skirting, walnut doors, complete new lighting fit out including LED spot lighting, construction of new walnut wine bar/reception desk, new ventilation system installation, new suspending ceiling construction, as well as entire re-painting of area and fit-out with new tables and chairs.

The kitchen also received a complete refurbishment over doubling its size and providing a new high grade commercial kitchen. the works included installation of a new extract ventilation system, stainless steel cooling units, sinks, food preparation tables as well as a full equipment fit out consisting of a bain marie with heated food pass, dishwasher, Convection oven, grills, fryers, walk-in cold room storage and freezer units. Anti slip R12 rated tiles were also installed as well as hygienic PVC wall cladding and hygienic grade suspended ceiling tiles. There was a considerable mechanical and electrical services installation involved in servicing the new equipment including a complete re-installation of all gas piping and connections.

As part of these works a new Fire safety system was implemented, with smoke & heat detectors, break glass units and emergency sounders installed throughout restaurant, fire builddoor installation as well as one hour fire proof partition wall construction.

Clontuskert National School Roof Refurbishment

Works on this project consisted of stripping existing roof and removal of velux roof windows as well as demolition of 2 number of chimneys. New rafters and support rafters were installed before applying a new breathable membrane and battens. The junction with the flat roof was waterproofed before the roof was re-slated and new fascia, soffit and downpipes installed, while repairs were also carried out to internal rooms including slabbing, plastering and painting. The external doors were also draft proofed and painted while an external concrete post and chainlink wire perimeter fence was also erected along school boundary as part of the works.

Demolition & Re-construction of listed Water Tower

The works involved in this project consisted of demolition of the listed stone water tower and re-construction of the water tower at an alternative location. The Water tank was carefully removed from the tower, cleaned and the steel treated while it awaited the the tower to be re-constructed. The tower stonework was carefully removed, cleaned, numbered, and stored for re-use by setting down in sequence to facilitate re-build using traditional lime mortar before the water tank itself was re-installed on top.

Refurbishment of listed Station House at Gort Station

This project entailed the complete refurbishment of the old station house building at Gort Station, Co. Galway. Works were carried out in accordance with Heritage Architects specification and included repairs to slate roof with salvaged bangor blue slates, fitting of new ridge capping, construction of new asphalt flat roof to existing extension, removal and disposal of rubble, floors and internal walls that were structurally unsound, construction of new concrete floor, Dry-lining to all internal faces of external walls, installation of new suspending ceilings, supply and install of new timber sash windows and external timber doors to replicate the originals, and construction of new canteen and wash room facilities for per way staff.

Refurbishment of listed Goods Store at Gort Station

This project consisted of refurbishing the stone constructed goods store building at Gort Station, Co. Galway. The works included removal of all vegetation and rubble around the building, stripping of existing roof slates and carefully storing them for re-use, removal of sections of existing rotting timber roof, installation of new timber joists and rafters, re-roofing of slate roof, installation of new roof light sheeting, installation of new cast iron gutter, carrying out substantial repairs to both large timber doors to the gable and side of building, painting and re-hanging of doors as well as repairs carried out to damaged areas of stonework.

Data Centre, Inchicore

The Inchicore Data Centre accommodation project consisted of a new room which we constructed within the existing C.M.E Department building at the CIE Inchicore Depot, Dublin 8. The footprint area in which the new Data Centre Room is approximately 123m2 including the new access ramp into the building. The project involved construction of a new control room along side a larger room to house the new Data center equipment and servers. There was a large mechanical and electrical package which included outside generator and chiller unit.
