Weston Airport Restaurant & Kitchen Refurbishment

Conneely Building & Civil Engineering have carried out substantial upgrade works at Dublin Weston Airport over the last number of years in order to modernise and rejuvenate the existing airport facilities as well expanding them. As part of these works the restaurant and commercial kitchen in the main terminal airport building were completely refurbished. The restaurant dining area, bar and kitchen as well as adjacent store rooms were stripped of all fixtures, fittings and equipment and internal partitions demolished to facilitate expansion of kitchen area and open plan dining area.

A new restaurant bar was constructed with walnut timber frame and frosted glass panels finished with a Zimbabwe Black Granite Countertop. The bar was full equipped with draught line cooler system, 3 nr. double door low level fridge units, Coffee making facilities, stainless steel internal bar shelving units and a 8m3 cold room keg storage.

The Dining area was upgraded by installing a new solid timber walnut floor, hi-level moulded skirting, walnut doors, complete new lighting fit out including LED spot lighting, construction of new walnut wine bar/reception desk, new ventilation system installation, new suspending ceiling construction, as well as entire re-painting of area and fit-out with new tables and chairs.

The kitchen also received a complete refurbishment over doubling its size and providing a new high grade commercial kitchen. the works included installation of a new extract ventilation system, stainless steel cooling units, sinks, food preparation tables as well as a full equipment fit out consisting of a bain marie with heated food pass, dishwasher, Convection oven, grills, fryers, walk-in cold room storage and freezer units. Anti slip R12 rated tiles were also installed as well as hygienic PVC wall cladding and hygienic grade suspended ceiling tiles. There was a considerable mechanical and electrical services installation involved in servicing the new equipment including a complete re-installation of all gas piping and connections.

As part of these works a new Fire safety system was implemented, with smoke & heat detectors, break glass units and emergency sounders installed throughout restaurant, fire builddoor installation as well as one hour fire proof partition wall construction.

Lough Boora Visitor Centre & Car Park

This project involved the Design & Build of a Visitor Centre Building and Car Park Facilities  at Lough Boora Discovery Park, Leabeg, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The aim of the development was to create a central focal point for the various tourist attractions at Lough Boora. The Clients of this contract were Bord na Móna and Bord Fáilte Ireland.

The key challenges involved in this development included the very poor ground conditions as the site was located on peat boglands and adjacent a lake. Some of the key design goals of the project that had to be incorporated into the development included being conscious of the local environment and constructing a building which would complement the Natural Landscape and Wildlife in the area as well as creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly facility. This was accomplished by using natural construction materials and the installation of renewable energy systems, this combined with the construction of a sustainable waste water treatment system provided an eco-friendly development which characterised the ethos of the Discovery Park itself.

The Building itself made use of numerous aspects of construction technologies including Pre-cast Concrete and  Larch Timber Piled Foundations, In-situ reinforced concrete groundbeams & Pile Caps, pre-cast concrete floor slabs, Timber frame Building Structure, Paralon Warm Roof with Sedum Mix Green Roof, Zinc Clad Canopy, Photovoltaic Solar Panel Energy System, Cedar Cladding Building Façade, Air Tightness and high grade thermal insulation, Zero Discharge Willow Bed Wastewater Treatment System, Foul Sewer Septic Tank, Pump Chamber and submersible pumping system, larch timber decking and handrailing, Mechanical and Electrical building Fit-out and high grade internal finishes as well as external ducting, watermain and services installation.

The Project also included the construction of a 126 space car park, 5 space Bus Park and extensive landscaping Works as well as construction of 9 nr, picnic areas, various footpaths and cycle tracks, wetland lake construction with timber pedestrian bridge and timber knee railing and fencing Works. A blockwork bicycle rental building with Cedar Cladding Façade to tie in with main visitor  building was also constructed as part of the development.

Portiuncula Hospital Car Park, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway

Construction of 400 space carpark at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, Co.Galway, including installation of public lighting, drainage, 700m of palisade fencing and landscaping.

Creagh Medical, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway

Construction of 40,000 sq ft new factory to specific Client requirements and specification for the production of medical devices. The project consisted of strip, pad and raft concrete foundations, structural steel frame and Kingspan KS100 cladding and curtain walling as well as an extension Mechanical & Electrical fit out. The works also involved the construction of a Clean Room self contained unit. External works included of the construction of 180 space Carpark to facilitate new factory employees including all associated drainage, ducting, public lighting, linemarking, kerbing & hard & soft landscaping.

 

 

Bachelor’s Walk Residential Development

Bachelors Walk is an exclusive development of quality residential houses built on a prime location at Ard Mhuire, Ballinasloe. The sites are spacious, well laid out and range in size from 1/5 to 1/3 of an acre. The site is overlooked by beautiful trees from the adjoining esker hills and Garbally College with its superb grounds and walks are only a short distance away. Bridge Renewal Project OB121, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway

The existing metal deck bridge was replaced with a pre-cast concrete bridge. Works included removal of the steel bridge, placing pre-cast concrete bed stones, beams and parapet walls. Diversion of existing services, extensive retaining wall structures with faced gabions, permanent fencing, pre-cast concrete safety barriers and accommodation works for local residents.
