This Accessibility Project comprised of the construction of a new Down platform to allow disabled access throughout the station. The project was constructed adjacent to the main Dublin to Cork live line and the station was left open to the public at all times. The works included the careful demolition of a listed structure and the reconstruction at an alternative location. Construction involved elements such as precast Z & L retaining units, ducting, drainage system and laying of new platform surfaces. Refurbishment of the existing Pedestrian Footbridge and stairs was also required to comply with the latest legislation.
