This project incorporated works to alter existing store room areas and kitchen to create a new dining area and canteen for students. The works involved included temporarily supporting load bearing block work walls in order to break out several openings, installing new lintels and making good wall surfaces to facilitate the area’s new purpose. New timber framed windows and fire rated doors were also installed.
The existing kitchen was substantially upgraded to increase its capacity to serve cooked food and comply with Health & Safety standards & regulations. This included installation of new commercial catering equipment including a Bain Marie 4 Pot Dry Well Food Warmer, pass through dishwasher, convection oven and stainless steel commercial fridge. Insulated fire shutters for newly made openings for counters were also installed and connected to the fire alarm to close in the event of a fire. The kitchen was finished with an Hygienic PVC cladding fitted to the walls.
There was also considerable Mechanical & Electrical works involved in this project including installing new radiators & associated pipe work, fitting new hot/cold returns, mains water upgrade, waste traps for new equipment in canteen, installation of new lights, fire alarms, smoke detectors, power supply and communication services. A new extraction van was also installed with all controls, ductwork and fire dampers included.
